How To Make Ugly Storage Drawers Pretty

I'm so excited to show you my latest DIY project. It was so easy and if you have the right tools it doesn't take long to finish. The drawers in the picture above used to look like this...

...Yuck! It drove me crazy looking at all that clutter. I kept thinking, "I wish I had a closet in my bathroom I could put these in." Ahhh, but that's when my fabulous idea came to me. Here's what I did:

I went to Michael's and found this heavy duty scrapbook paper on clearance. I also bought pretty pink jewels and a super glue stick. (You could try using a regular glue stick but I'm pretty sure it won't be sticky enough.) You can see in the picture above that the paper is double sided so the inside of the drawers are now a pretty blue shimmery color.

I measured the height of the drawers and cut  the paper to fit (I used one of those rotary paper cutters). Then I put glue (lots of it!) all over the side of the paper that I want to show on the outside and stuck it to the inside of the drawer. Like this...

After I finished gluing the paper to the inside of the drawer I used the super glue stick and fastened the jewel to the front of the drawer. The jewels came with adhesive on them but I don't think it would have been sticky enough to keep them in place.

So basically you just repeat with all the drawers. And here is the finished product...

It's so much better!! It's not ugly anymore. I love it! Oh, I also glued one of the whole pieces of paper (which fit nicely! I only had to round the corners.) to the top of the tower to make it look finished. And now... don't be too quick to throw out ugly things that may be laying around your house driving you crazy.

I hope this inspires you! Have the best day!!
xoxo Heather

I'm all for turning old/ugly/thrifted items into something beautiful and usable (and usually on the cheap).
